Patient-Centered Care

Medical imaging professionals are the primary liaison between patients, licensed practitioners, and other support team members. These professionals must remain sensitive to patients’ needs through good communication, patient assessment, patient monitoring, and patient care skills. As members of the healthcare team, medical imaging professionals participate in quality improvement processes and continually assess their professional performance.

Professional Behaviors

Professionalism is defined by sets of attitudes and behaviors specific to professions. Professionalism has been described as the behavior, purposes, or traits that exemplify or differentiate a profession or a professional person and is a calling, demanding specialized knowledge and rigorous academic preparation. The practice standards published by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) and the standards of ethics published by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) serve as guides for the professional behavior of radiographers.
