Steps to confirm the diagnosis of appendicitis in Emily: perform a complete medical history and also a physical exam. And since we already knew that Emely probably lost her appetite because of the pain, we have to examine her to see if there are clinical signs of appendicitis. Blood tests, this would help look for any infection that Emely may have. Urine tests to verify that there is no problem on that side. Imaging studies to review what Emely has in the abdominal area, such as an ultrasound, to confirm the diagnosis. If Emely needs surgery, fasting should be mandatory. Use age-appropriate pain scales to assess Emily’s pain. Give clear and reassuring explanations to Emily’s mother. Provide information about the procedure, risks, and benefits. Offer emotional support and resources to manage stress and anxiety. Obtain informed consent from parents. Prepare Emily for surgery by explaining the process in a way that is understandable for her age. Reduce Emily’s anxiety: Use distraction techniques, such as stories or toys.
