Question 1: Communication with Alex
– How would you approach Alex to establish trust and comfort during his visit?
To comfort and gain Alex’s trust during his visit I would make a nice approach by making eye contact with him while i introduce myself. I will explain what I’m doing by using age-appropriate language and not using big words he may not understand to help him gain more trust. I would also use positive statements such as, “You’re doing awesome!” to make him feel more comfortable. Since he’s also anxious and hesitant I would reassure him that he’s in a safe place and try to get his mind off the feeling of anxiety by speaking to him first about fun things he may be interested in instead of starting off with medical things since it might make him more anxious.
– What language and tone would you use to ensure he understands the purpose of the visit and feels at ease?
The tone I would be using to speak with Alex is a calm, friendly tone. The language I would be using is age-appropriate to ensure he understands the purpose of his visit and does not get confused. As I ask him the questions I would ask them in simple terms and try to make them interesting as if we’re having a friendly conversation to not scare him away and so he feels better about it and at ease.
