Group Scenario Discussion Assignment: Cleanliness in Pediatric Healthcare Facilities

Objective:To engage in a collaborative discussion that explores the importance of cleanliness in pediatric healthcare facilities and the implementation of essential practices and protocols to ensure a safe, hygienic, and supportive environment for young patients and their families.

    (BreAna) Scenario 2:

    – A newly established pediatric clinic needs to develop a comprehensive plan for the disinfection and sterilization of medical equipment. Discuss the steps involved in creating this plan, including the selection of child-friendly cleaning agents and the frequency of disinfection. Consider the unique needs of pediatric patients in your discussion.

    Discussion Points:

    1. Identify the key issues presented in your scenario.

    Preventing cross-contamination

    Regular cleaning and disinfection

    Ensuring safety of pediatric patients

    Keeping history records

    Creating a comfortable environment

    2. Discuss how these issues impact the safety, comfort, and well-being of young patients and their families.

Cross-contamination is an issue that impacts the safety of young patients and their families because it can spread germs and cause different types of health risks especially for kids since they have weaker immune systems.

Not cleaning and disinfecting can affect the well-being of young patients and their families because it can cause infections and illness. It’s also a transmission that can leave negative effects for young patients and families.

Not ensuring safety of pediatric patients has an impact on the young patients and their families because it can cause lack of trust and confidence.

Not having a comfortable environment for young patients and their families can show signs of unprofessionalism. It can cause stress and anxiety. It can also make them not want to trust you.

    3. Propose practical solutions and strategies to address these issues.

-Solutions and strategies to address these issues might be having any family come to the clinics with good hygiene and if anyone is sick with a contagious disease they should wear a mask.

-When clinics deal with patients that have a contagious disease they should clean all the supplies with a stronger solution and have them in a separate room.

-Having patients always sanitize their hands

-Making sure that the waiting room or any of the other rooms are all clean and not messy

    4. Consider the role of healthcare providers and cleaning staff in implementing these solutions.

To keep the place safe it is going to take everyone’s Input to make sure that it is as sanitized as possible. cleaning staff do have their job focused on sanitizing. However, even the healthcare providers have to put in their part. First,we have to establish that things are at least sanitary and make a plan to see who can be in charge of sanitizing them. and make a consistent schedule for sanitizing those and it doesn’t have to be all on the cleaning staff schedule. It could be divided among the healthcare providers and cleaning staff. Make sure that we have documentation of when it was last clean as we do with everything else in the clinic.

    5. Discuss the potential challenges in implementing your proposed solutions and how to overcome them.

Some potential challenges that could come with trying to implement these solutions is those that don’t like to wear masks or refuse to wear masks, but ways to overcome that is to have some visual explanations on what could happen if you were to have contagious illness and what the dangerous outcomes could come from it you were to not wear a mask you’d be putting others at risk.

A challenge we could run into when using stronger solutions is that some people might say the stronger solutions can come with an odor, a way to overcome that is to try and find scentless solutions that are still just as strong without affecting those with sensitivity to smells.

A challenge with implementing the cleanliness of the waiting room is there being a chance of the people assigned for cleaning of waiting room to not put their full effort, and a way to overcome this is to have another set of people come after them to check off whether or not they cleaned to their best abilities.
