I like your idea of having certain waste in separate things to make cleaning easier and safer, also how you acknowledged who could be at risk if there is poor waste management.

I really like the idea of giving words of encouragement and how that could make Alex feel calmed or even happy with the positive responses he receives, and its a really good start to gaining trust and comforting Alex.
