What is Apprenticeship? The training model of Registered Apprenticeship provides a unique combination of structured learning with on-the-job training from an assigned mentor and instructor.
Health Care Integrated Services (HCIS) is offering you the opportunity for college level training and education without the responsibility of student loans.
HCIS Apprenticeship is a program designed to create career opportunities for adults that extend beyond high school academics. The program is designed for adult students interested in earning a license or certification in a Health Care STEM-related area, skilled occupation and want hands on learning at a worksite along with classroom instruction. Similar to a registered apprenticeship for adults, the employer invests time and money to prepare students for ongoing employment and advancement. Apprentices can start their program in the spring, fall or summer year. The apprentice is mentored for 500 hours on the worksite and at the same time, students take one year of related courses. There may be some paid work experience but not guaranteed. You can commit to one or two years in the program, depending on the student's year in school and the occupation of the apprenticeship.
Receive one-on-one mentoring working side-by-side with high performing employees.
Receive a State-issued industry skills certificate upon successfully completing the program to use as proof of their abilities and skills.
There will be no out-of-pocket cost to the apprentice however you must seek tuition through other WIOA approved services.
The Apprentice MAY NOT begin training without Consent, and the application is complete. NO HOURS WILL BE CREDITED BEFORE APPRENTICE REGISTRATION.
I hereby consent to my enrollment as a student in the Health Care Integrated Services – Medical Assistant or License Vocational Nurse Apprenticeship Program. In addition to such consent, I hereby acknowledge and accept the following conditions of enrollment:
A student who has interrupted schooling for a continuous period of two years or more will not be allowed credit for hours of instruction received prior to the date of interruption.
Transfer students from a state other than California must submit a certified or notarized copy of their prior records.
Licensed Vocational Nurse perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians and other health practitioners running smoothly. The duties of LVN vary from office to office, depending on the location and size of the practice and the practitioner's specialty.
Related instruction will consist of 500 hours of classroom time and on-the-job learning, consisting of lectures, demonstration, and other related instruction. Examinations will be given periodically to evaluate apprentices' comprehension of instruction offered.

Prerequisite: 18 years of age and up, 2.0 GPA, have availability to participate for 2 semesters and 1 summer session
Course Description: Upon completion of this course students shall obtain an industry standard certification for License Vocational Nurse. The intent of this course of study is to prepare students age 18 and up with the opportunity to become a qualified License Vocational Nurse for an entry-level position in a variety of practice settings. The student will prepare to become an effective multi-skilled member of a health team and employable as a Medical Professional at the conclusion of completing the core competency. Goals of this curriculum include:
Additionally, this curriculum is appropriate preparation for the license or certification examination available in California, with the addition of 10 hours of administering injections and 10 hours of vein and skin puncturing.
Students are required to enroll for two semesters of classroom related instruction for a total of 200 semester hours and a 4 to 8 week summer session of non-paid on the job learning totaling 500 hours necessary to complete the core competency requirement for apprenticeship. The on the job learning environment shall be completed at the Health Care Integrated School Based Medical Clinic site on the Centennial High School campus or other designated sites. There may be some opportunity for apprentice students to participate in paid on the job learning positions at the clinic through Workforce Investment Opportunity support when available. The sponsor may determine that the apprentice student has met the core competency level earlier than 500 hours but must still adhere to testing and evaluation assessment.
Should a student desire to drop out of the apprenticeship program prior to the completion of the course requirements, the student will be deactivated from the national apprenticeship program registration and will not receive the industry standard certification due to non-completion. However the student shall maintain credits earn through course completion and any certificates completed.
